SECRETARY-GENERAL'S ADDRESS

Welcome to LMCMUN 2026!
“They say that if you truly desire something from your heart, the entire universe conspires to help you find it.”
When the protagonist of the movie said these words, he was not merely speaking of destiny as chance, but of destiny as responsibility. Desire, after all, does not reward waiting, it rewards action. Our conference works the same way: the world does not move for those who hope, but for those who speak. When you act with intent, the room responds and suddenly, the world does conspire but only after you do.
LMCMUN is born from this very conviction. It is the belief that young minds, seated behind nameplates that carry the weight of nations, are capable of re-examining power, unsettling authority, and re-writing narratives not because permission was granted, but because the moment requires it.
From wars that split continents to conflicts that lit deserts ablaze, every decision can escalate or contain disaster. Empires teeter on the edge, where one choice crowns a ruler or topples a kingdom. Courts tremble under the weight of betrayal, while assemblies rebuild worlds from chaos and ashes. Even the future waits, challenging delegates to prevent battles before they reach new planets.
My Secretariat and I promise you more than the organisation we promise you a feeling. A conference that lingers, like a conversation you replay long after it ends. In these rooms, dialogue becomes resistance, and silence becomes a choice we refuse to make. As your Secretary-General, I hope you debate not for victory, but for meaning. This is the challenge, the thrill, and the responsibility this is LMCMUN 2026.
And so, we return full circle to where we began.
To desire something from the heart is to trust that your voice matters, even when the room is loud. Over the next few days, may you argue fiercely, listen generously, and leave changed if only slightly. Because even if resolutions fail and alliances break, remember : in big, big countries, such small, small things keep happening and sometimes, those small things change everything.
May the best delegate win.
And even if you don't, don't worry.
As Peter Parker said,
"No man can win every battle, but no man should fall without struggle."

A bit about your Secretary-General:

If you come across someone rewatching How I Met Your Mother with unwavering dedication, you have likely found our Secretary General. Himanshi is an exceptional foodie, with a passion rivalled only by her love for travelling across the globe, capturing stunning photographs, and attending concerts whenever she can secure tickets. Her photo gallery is impressive enough to inspire instant admiration, and her profile would not be out of place on an influencer’s page.
Widely appreciated and well-liked, Himanshi is among the most approachable individuals you will meet. Conversations with her no matter how ordinary often end in spontaneous laughter. Known for her quick wit and sharp, thoughtful comebacks, she has an exceptional ability to navigate even the most challenging situations. This comes naturally to her, as she seems to know everyone and has insight into almost everything. Himanshi would patiently listen to even a monkey talking about M4 and their Kia Seltos drifting provided they support RCB, especially when Kohli is batting.
Much like Blair Waldorf, Himanshi executes tasks with remarkable efficiency and ensures that every outcome meets the highest standards of perfection. If you see her around the conference, do not hesitate to greet her and share your honest feedback. She values constructive input, acts on it promptly, and ensures the success of the conference just as she does with everything she commits herself to.
Welcome to LMCMUN 2026.
Until May,
Himanshi Bhutoria,
Secretary-General,
La Martiniere Calcutta Model United Nations, 2026.
